The Pharmacy department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital is modern, pro-active, forward-thinking and well respected both locally and nationally. We have automated dispensing using robots, electronic medicines cabinets and an electronic prescribing and patient notes system within the hospital.
We are committed to the development of pharmacist prescribing and have one of the highest numbers of pharmacist prescribers in the country who provide direct patient care via prescribing roles, including:

Prescribing in surgical pre-assessment clinic and on the Theatre Admissions Unit

Prescribing total parenteral nutrition (TPN) as part of the nutrition team

Specialist roles within haematology & oncology, critical care, emergency admissions, respiratory, endocrine, biologics, and many more
We also have advanced pharmacy technicians in roles which provide clinical services to some wards.
The safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines is high on the agenda at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. Our pharmacy team is committed to ensuring safe prescribing practice, optimising medications usage, and reducing medicines wastage to achieve this goal.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital is situated one mile away from the town centre with easy access via bus, car, or on foot. Chesterfield is known as the ‘Gateway to the Peaks’ due to its close proximity to the Peak District National Park.
With the M1 only a 10 minutes drive from the hospital and a main train line running through the town, Nottingham and Sheffield are both within 30 minutes travelling time. On-site car parking is available at minimal cost.
There is an on-site Wellbeing Hub which is open 24/7 and is free of charge for staff members. The hub has a gym, a studio for fitness classes and private rooms for counselling sessions.

On-site Education Centre
The hospital has a dedicated Education Centre where some of the essential training sessions occur.
The Education Centre also has a library where you can access specialist resources and journal articles to help with studying.
